To follow up on the apology saga: Jackson called tonight and said, "Hello this is Jackson and I'm sorry I called you fat." When he hung up I told him that it was a lovely effort, but that maybe he'd missed the point. He wrote a follow-up email saying he was sorry he hurt her feelings. I should be happy he didn't say, "I'm sorry you're fat."

I learned from a master. But while we share the evil-thought gene I think I missed out on the say-it-like-it-is gene and got the smarmy-hypocrite one instead. I had to write that letter to those parents 10 times before I could exorcise the evil.
